Tony began work as a freelance bass player in 1980. Since then he has toured nationally and internationally (UK & Europe) as both a musician and audio technician including two extended West End seasons.

His other experiences include:

  • Working in domestic construction with the family company (1980 - 1998)
  • Teaching electric & acoustic guitar & bass (since 1984)
  • Transcription, arrangement and direction of musical performances (since 1996)
  • Recording, mixing & editing audio for promotion, replay (theatre) and release (since 1998)
  • Production & Stage Management for a wide range of events/performances (since 1998)
  • Theatre set design and construction (since 2000)
  • Managing safety for a wide range of events/performances (since 2000)
  • Working as a freelance audio professional - design/installation/operation (since 2000)

    He has been teaching at Nirimba (currently WSI Entertainment) since 2004 and has been a full-time staff member since 2012. His current, regular gigs include:

    • Audio operator for Sydney Jazz Orchestra
    • Bass/Vocals for “Oh What A Night” – Frankie Valli/Beach Boys tribute
    • Production Manager for St. Matthews, Windsor Bicentenary events

What’s your best real-world, practical advice to students?

Be early and work hard….but don’t work for free (except charity) as this takes paid work away from other skilful and talented people (just like yourself!)
