Steve has had a varied career over 30 years in the Music Industry, featuring performance, composition, songwriting, producing and teaching. He is a muti instrumentalist but specializes in bass.
He is currently the bass player for Icehouse as well as performing a with a variety of other artists and performers in Sydney. Other artists he has performed or recorded with include Wendy Matthews, Jenny Morris, Jeff Duff, David Beniuk, Mel Horsnell, Andy Gordon, Ana Christensen, Floyd Vincent, Damien Lovelock, Rex Goh, John Schumann, Doug Parkinson, the Living Daylights, Magic Hour, Sister Madly, Vicent Stone, Absolute 80s among many others. He has performed in professional theatre productions ( Fame the Musical, Reg Livermore's Big Sister) as well as 2 season with Icehouse and the Sydney Dance Company ( Berlin)
Steve has spent much of his musical life composing and songwriting. During a 10 year tenure as a songwriter with Sony/ATV publishing he had song placed in Australia, New Zealand, Germany, the UK and the US. Cowriters included Tina Arena, Penny Flanagan, David Beniuk, Rusell Morris, Mike Caen, Jeff Duff, Danny Marx Young, Jan Preston and many others.
While at Sydney University, Steve was lucky enough to study composition with Peter Schulthorpe and had several Autralia Council commisions to compose music for ensembles such as Synergy, Elision and the Sydney Mandolin Quartet. In the 2006 he completed a Master of Arts (Hons) degree at UWS which focussed on composing electronic and electroacoustic music.
Steve began his teaching life at the Sounds of the Sreet Music program for disadvantaged youth during the 1990's and started at WSI Entertainment in 2000 as a part Time Teacher. He became Head Teacher in 2005. He teaches Performance, Composition and Music technology and having used most DAWs he primarily works with Pro Tools, Waves and Native instrument products.
Other recent projects include co-producing and mixing the "Icehouse in Concert" triple album.
