About NADC Photography

Studying Photography at Nepean Arts and Design Centre is an ideal way to increase your knowledge in photography and photo imaging and commence your pathway to a career as a professional photographer.

At NADC we offer a range of courses in our outstanding professionally equipped studios and digital labs, with teacher mentors who are professional photographers. We have short courses to establish your basic skills, or enrich your existing knowledge. Once basic skills are attained via our short courses, the Diploma of Photo Imaging is our professional-level course for those who aspire to work in the photographic industry

Preparatory Skill Set for Professional Photo Imaging Practice: course # CUASS00050

The Preparatory Skill Set for Professional Photo Imaging Practice is for those who want to take their learning to the next level, and extend their knowledge in camera craft, studio lighting, location techniques, post-production, and professional printing. This course is available full-time and part-time, with day and evening offerings. Successful completion of this course provides entry into the Diploma of Photo Imaging. In term 2, 2017, we have new daytime intakes starting at Nepean College, and Wentworth Falls College. Our next intake for evening courses will be in Semester 2 (July) at our Parramatta location.

Certificate IV in Photography and Photo Imaging, course #CUA41115-01V01

The six units achieved in The Preparatory Skill Set for Professional Photo Imaging Practice, can be used as direct credit (credit transfer) for the Certificate IV Photography and Photo Imaging. If you are ready to take up study full time, with goals to enter the photographic or creative industries, then enrolling straight into the CIV may be the best option for you. The Certificate IV will extend your photographic studio lighting skills, camera craft, colour management, output skills and more, and will provide you with the confidence and experience to commence your photographic career. Some units from the Certificate IV Photography and Photo Imaging can be used as direct credit Icredit transfer) into the Diploma of Photography and Photo Imaging.

Diploma of Photography and Photo Imaging course # CUA50915-01V02

The Diploma of Photo Imaging is the industry standard qualification for professional photographers. Entry to this qualification is limited to those able to demonstrate photo imaging skills that support learning at Diploma level. The Preparatory Skill Set for Professional Photo Imaging Practice is a suitable pathway.The Diploma equips the learners in intermediate and advanced skills in studio lighting, location shooting, colour management, post- production and output, advanced camera craft, business skills, industry knowledge and more.

The Diploma gives the learner hands-on experience with real jobs and work practices in a wide range of photographic tasks designed to equip the photographer for the workplace. The skills learnt in the Diploma can be applied to fashion, landscape, corporate, portrait, wedding, and numerous other aspects of photography. The Diploma will also teach you the skills critical to turning your passion into a business. In addition to developing your technical and business skills, the Diploma of Photo Imaging will develop your aesthetic skills and nurture your personal photographic vision.

Some of our graduates become specialist photographers in fields such as sport, architecture, food, fashion, portraiture, weddings, and corporate photography, while others develop wide ranging photographic skills.
