Study Modes

Western Sydney Institute delivers courses flexibly including online, on-campus and a mix of both online and on-campus. For a list of courses currently on offer, use our find a course and select your preferred study option.

Study options include:


If you choose to study at one of our Western Sydney colleges you'll get access to top industry training facilities and state-of-the-art classrooms. You'll also experience our great student services including libraries, cafes, student associations, gyms, careers advisory service, book shops and many more.

Full Time

You will take at least two units and be in the classroom for at least 18 hours a week. The actual number of hours and how many days per week you attend will depend on the number of units you choose to study and your personal timetable.

Part Time

You will take at least one unit and be in the classroom for 2-3 hours per week for each unit. Part-time courses are available in the day, evening and on weekends, so you can fit study around your work and personal commitments.


TAFE Western Sydney offers a wide range of certificates to advanced diploma, short courses and even graduate qualifications delivered entirely online. This means you can study at your own pace wherever suits you best, at home, at work or on the go. You will access learning and support materials and submit assessments all online.


If you choose a flexible delivery course you will study both in the classroom and through online or distance learning. How much is delivered in which way depends on your specific course.


If you prefer to learn on the job then we have a range of courses that can help you do just that. Our teachers will train you in your workplace, using your tools and knowledge. Assignments will be based on your real life workplace and your previous work experience could give you credit towards completing your qualification faster.
