Disadvantaged Learner Initiative
The Disadvantaged Learner Initiative provides free SDC places for disadvantaged young learner drivers under the age of 25.
The key objective of the initiative is to allow young learner drivers from disadvantaged backgrounds and Aboriginal communities with limited financial means access to the course by
providing a course fee exemption.
This exemption assists in improving equal opportunity for disadvantaged young learner drivers in NSW, allowing them to benefit from the road safety outcomes provided by the course.
A strict eligibility criteria applies to applicants as there are limited places available each year.
Eligible applicants must meet the following criteria:
¿ Hold a current NSW learner licence
¿ Be aged under 25 years
¿ Have completed a minimum of 50 hours driving experience as evidenced in their log book (The 50 hours must be actual driving hours, (not 3-for-1 Scheme) and include 10 night hours).
¿ Hold a current Pensioner Concession Card in the learner's name, issued by the Australian Government Department of Human Services (Centrelink) and be assessed as eligible under the Roads and Maritime
