If your course has been funded by Training Services NSW under Smart and Skilled, you may be contacted by a Training Services NSW representative to discuss your experience at Western Sydney Institute.

This qualification provides a trade outcome in roof plumbing.

Occupational titles may include:
- Roof plumber.

The qualification has core and elective unit of competency requirements that cover some common skills for the plumbing industry, as well as roof plumbing specialist units of competency.

The plumbing industry strongly affirms that training and assessment leading to recognition of skills must be undertaken in a real or very closely simulated workplace environment and this qualification requires all units of competency to be delivered in this context.

Completion of the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (ASCC 2007) is required before entering a construction work site. Achievement of unit CPCCWHS1001 covers this requirement.

Complete TAFE attendance in 1.5 years (3 semesters) depending on experience and employer requirements.

Are you a Registered Apprentice?
As a registered apprentice you will be eligible for government subsidised training. A short time after starting work with your employer an Australian Apprentice Centre Representative would have visited your workplace, spoken to both you and your employer and assisted you in completing a training contract application.

If you do not have a copy of your signed contract, ask your employer for a copy. You should have a letter confirming that you are a registered apprentice. If you do not remember signing a contract, speak to your employer about it. If there is no signed training contract your employer needs to contact an Australian Apprenticeships Centre as soon as possible.

The employer and the apprentice enter into a formal Training Contract that sets out the rights, responsibilities and obligations of both parties for the period of the contract. The contract is then registered with Training Services NSW.

If you are Not a Registered Apprentice phone 9208 0156 and the Plumbing Section Staff will explain the conditions of enrolment including qualification and learning resources fees.

Did you know as a WSI/OTEN student you have unlimited access to lynda.com which is an online library of video courses in software, design, technology, communication, learning and business. These skills can help you to achieve your study goals. Visit tafe.ws/lynda to get started
