This qualification reflects the role of persons who are responsible for organising their own work within known routines. Work responsibilities cover the maintenance and repair of racing tracks, gardens and other facilities as well as the use of tools and machinery. Employees will be expected to demonstrate knowledge of the impact of track and environmental conditions on racing animal welfare. Employees may be required to handle greyhounds or horses in emergency situations and assist in marshalling prior to racing (depending on the individual's training plan). A range of well-developed skills involving judgement and problem solving with some theoretical knowledge is required. This qualification is suited to Australian Apprenticeship pathways.
