In this course you will learn about the benefits of hydrotherapy for dogs.
Hydrotherapy is effective for improving strength, range of motion, agility and
psychological well-being. It also assists in reducing pain. Discover why it is
so good for dogs to swim, whether it is for recuperation from injuries and
operations, on an exercise program to lose weight, or improve their
cardiovascular fitness or purely to swim for leisure and enjoyment. Almost every
muscle of the anatomy is exercised whilst avoiding impact to joints and bones.
Bring your dog along for this fun hands-on class.
Classes will be held at the Londonderry Hydrotherapy Centre. Assist your dog to
swim in a heated specialised canine hydrotherapy pool. With qualifications from
the National College of Traditional Medicine, your teacher will show you how to
keep your pets healthy - by keeping it natural.
Course requirements: Please bring your dog on a lead. You will need to have
suitable clothes/swimmers for swimming - preferably a long sleeve rashie or top
to protect against scratches, a towel for you and a towel for your dog. Please
do not bring dogs with any medical condition or if you have any concerns about
This course is suitable for pet owners and vet nurses. Upon completion of this
course you will be able to assist dogs in the hydrotherapy pool and have an
understanding of hydrotherapy benefits and practice.
There are no prerequisites for this course.
Learn how animal hydrotherapy and natural therapies can benefit your animals, and how these practices may be applied in the home and in the animal workplace. Participants are encouraged to bring their own dog to the class.
Topics covered will include-
The history of Hydrotherapy and natural therapies including acupressure, cranio-sacral therapies and T Touch.
Basic techniques used to discover abnormalities, to calm and relax an animal, to rid an animal's body of toxins and stimulate circulation.
Natural therapies in animal first aid.
With qualifications from the National College of Traditional Medicine in Herbal Medicine and Equine Nutrition, Naturopathy and Myofunctional Therapy, your teacher will show you how to keep your pets healthy- by keeping it natural.
Please bring your dog on a lead to the class. Learners need to wear comfortable clothing and closed shoes. Lunch is provided as our canteen is not open on Sundays.
