If your course has been funded by Training Services NSW under Smart and Skilled, you may be contacted by a Training Services NSW representative to discuss your experience at Western Sydney Institute.

This course is aimed at developing knowledge and skills in working with children within an early childhood setting. You will learn about children's health needs, how to prepare nutritionally balanced food and organising your work priorities in an education and care setting.

IMPORTANT NOTE: To complete your qualification, you will need to do a minimum of 28 hours of compulsory work placement. This will be organised for you at the end of your course. To attend this placement, you will need to provide your Working with Children Check number which you will give to staff during your first week of class.

COMMUNITY AND CHILDREN'S SERVICES - Anyone in child-related work (including student placements and volunteers) MUST have a current Working with Children Check (students/volunteers free) in line with the Office of Children's Guardian phase-in schedule and processes. Visit:

STUDENT READINESS FOR WORK PLACEMENT - Work placements will only occur after there has been a reasonable amount of student/teacher contact and when the teacher is satisfied that you are ready to benefit from workplace learning and perform workplace duties. Your teacher can provide further information.

Credit (or recognition) for modules/units may be granted based on previous learning, studies, work and/or life experiences. Please discuss this with the teaching section when you enrol.

Early Childhood Educator, Child Care Worker.

Successful completion of units in this course may be used to provide credit towards a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care or Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.
