TAFE Plus Statement in Fire Awareness Training

TAFE NSW Course Number: 357-29012V01

In this one day course you will learn basic firefighting skills and undertake firefighting operations within a "hot fire cell" training facility located at Blacktown. You will learn how to wear breathing apparatus and undertake search and rescue within a "hot fire cell"; as well as extinguish gas and flammable liquid fires. This course is suitable if you are: - interested in firefighting as a career; - a firefighter and wish to practice your skills; - working in the building industry; - a fire or safety consultant and wish to experience the hazards and risks of fire. This course will be offered monthly between Monday and Saturday from 9.30am to 3.00pm. A minimum of 10 candidates are required at a cost of $350.00/person. Participants must be at least 18 years of age and of reasonable fitness. Firefighting protective clothing and equipment is provided on the day but you should wear suitable cotton based work clothing and work boots. You will need to bring lunch as there are not many suitable food outlets nearby. This course is not accredited national training, however you will receive a TAFE NSW attendance certificate.
