This course is for people employed as a trainee of draftsperson working in specialist engineering or manufacturing sectors such as in mechanical, machine construction and maintenance, steel fabrication, mechanical services, electrical services, fluid power or piping assembly organisations.

You will acquire skills and knowledge to produce detail drawings according to engineering designs and Australian Standards (AS). The skills you will develop include use of computer-aided design (CAD) software functions and ability to apply industry and discipline specific knowledge to produce models, produce drawings and schematics for specialised engineering-related areas of industry. Other skills covered in this course may include information gathering, such as onsite visits, calculations, consultations and research.

The course duration will vary depending on the training pathway agreed to between you, your employer and the TAFE College.
