Statement of Attainment in Developing Optical Dispensing Skills

TAFE NSW Course Number: 357-R3040V01

This course is aimed at those non-qualified (optical assistant) staff members to learn and/or improve their on-the-job practical skills and knowledge and gain some formal recognition for this. This will give TAFE Digital highly qualified staff an opportunity to support the workplace by spending the time needed to train these learners. By conducting the functional dispensing learning and training on behalf of the practitioners we can support them by taking on this load, while dispensing more knowledge (and skills) to complement the work done in the workplace. Those who complete this training will also be able to differentiate themselves from other optical assistants by completing this recognised training and achieving a better understanding of and taking more accurate facial measurements and by improved fitting and adjusting of spectacle frames. They will better understand the range of different spectacle lens types and designs available to dispense a range of optical prescriptions.

Optical dispensers
