Would you like to further your career in the construction industry? The Diploma of Building and Construction will put you on the pathway for employment as a site manager or project This qualification is designed to meet the needs of builders, including selecting contractors, overseeing the work and its quality, and liaising with clients.
The builder may also be the appropriately licensed person with responsibility under the relevant building licensing authority in the State or Territory. Builder licensing varies across States and Territories and additional requirements to attainment of this qualification may be required.
The qualification has core unit of competency requirements that cover common skills for the construction industry.
The construction industry strongly affirms that training and assessment leading to recognition of skills must be undertaken in a real or very closely simulated workplace environment and this qualification requires all included units of competency to be delivered in this context.
Completion of the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (ASCC 2007) is required before entering a construction work site. Achievement of unit CPCCOHS1001A covers this requirement.
Additional units of competency may be required to meet builder registration requirements in various States and Territories.
Although there are no formal educational entry requirements for this course, we recommend that:
- Some computer skills are needed to undertake simple office tasks such as word processing.
- You must be able to study and work independently.
- You need a level of language, research, letter and report writing skills equivalent to year 12 at high school.
- You need some maths skills to be able to calculate and solve simple maths problems.
- You need a computer with standard office applications.
- You need good internet access.

Depending on your previous qualifications and experience, your fee may be less than the maximum fee quoted. Your actual fee will be calculated and confirmed during the enrolment process.
This course is approved for a Commonwealth VET Student Loan. If you meet the eligibility requirements, you are able to apply to the Commonwealth for a loan to cover all or part of your course fee. We will ask you whether you would like to apply for a VET Student Loan when you enrol and advise you of the process.

To complete this course study in the classroom with face to face delivery either during the day or evening at Nirimba College, or alternatively if preferred by self paced study using flexible electronic delivery at distance if needed.
