This qualification describes the skills and knowledge of a bakers assistant working in a commercial baking environment.

All work must be carried out to comply with workplace procedures, in accordance with State/Territory food safety, and work health and safety, regulations and legislation that apply to the workplace.

No occupational licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

This Certificate II qualification is an introduction into the baking industry and includes the core skills and knowedge required to commence a career as a baker. The course includes the production of biscuit, cake, pastry and bread products. Nepean College, Kingswood Campus will offer this course on a Tuesday from 12 noon until 8.30 pm, and on a Friday from 7.30 am until 3 pm.

All students must attend a compulsory information session on any of the days/times listed below to confirm their place in the course, to receive uniform requirements and class timetable:

Trainees: From 2016 if you are starting a traineeship that is on the NSW Skills List, your Smart and Skilled fee for the whole qualification will not be more than $1,000.

There are additional costs for the purchase of uniform and equipment. This will be explained to you at the information session.

When enrolling under a Smart and Skilled entitlement and where you are eligible for 100% credit from previous studies, your student fee contribution will be zero. However, you will be required to pay an administration fee for the production of your testamur.

Part Time Day: 7 hours per week x 1 Year

Tuesdays from 12 pm for 8 hours (subject to change). Some units of competence are digitilised and need to be completed online.
