This cohort is for track riders working in the racing industry who are licenced as track riders but wish to become approved riders under the jurisdiction of Racing NSW. Expectations of this cohort are to become a fully licensed Approved Rider.

If during or after your enrolment, the course in which you are enrolled is updated in line with national industry standards, the Institute reserves the right to transition you into an alternate course. If this becomes necessary, the Institute will advise you of the change and the arrangements which will be available for you to complete your alternate course.
Must be licenced as a trackrider in NSW.
Credit (or recognition) for modules/units may be granted based on previous learning, studies, work and/or life experiences. Please discuss this with the teaching section when you enrol.
This skill set is for track riders to make licensing requirements to become amateur jockeys.
Approved riders are able to be licenced as amateur jockeys
CIII Trackrider, CIV Jockey
||Develop basic trackwork riding skills
||Ride horses at trackwork
||Ride horses in jump outs
||Comply with the rules of racing and related protocols
||Prepare for race riding
||Follow OHS procedures and observe environmental work practices
||Exercise horses in pacework
The above list includes units being offered at this campus and that are required to complete this qualification. Other colleges may offer different elective options. For some courses the electives will not be listed however they will be discussed during your first class. This course is only offered on the job. Your assessor will work out an appropriate schedule for you based on your workplace requirements and licencing requirements.
