HER career has been filled with detours, but interior designer Rebeccah Peters couldn’t be happier with how it has turned out.

“As soon as I started, I knew that this was exactly what I wanted to do and exactly where I wanted to be,” says the Penrith local, who is working in her dream role after completing an Advanced Diploma in Interior Design at TAFE Western Sydney last year.

AFTER being fast-tracked to study degree-level computer science in his final years at high school, it was always expected that university would be the next step for Curtis Millar.

Instead, after receiving his chosen university offer, the now 21-year-old opted to complete a two-year traineeship in conjunction with TAFE Western Sydney and to start his degree later.

He couldn’t be happier with his decision.

More than just a place to study, TAFE enabled Lisa Thorley to turn her whole life around.

Two years ago, the 31-year-old mother of two from Camden was working at a party shop, feeling frustrated at her lack of career opportunities and wondering what she should do next.

Now with a Diploma and Advanced Diploma of Event Management from TAFE Western Sydney, she is doing a job she never imagined for herself as promotions manager for a local radio station.

NO-ONE could ever accuse Matthew Koots of wasting time. At an age when most of his mates are still at university, the Cranebrook local is already on his fourth qualification at TAFE Western Sydney and has just finished an important project for the Australian arm of engineering giant Bosch Rexroth.

”Most of my friends who went to university are only just coming into their third year and still have two years to go,” Koots, who turned 20 only a few months ago, says.
