Course description

In our Diploma of Beauty Therapy course you will learn the skills to apply advanced beauty therapy treatments, including aesthetic aromatherapy, use of essential oils, epilation and make-up for photography. You may choose from electives in the specialist beauty workplace training and assessment or small business management areas.

You must complete all 22 core units plus eleven (11) elective units of competency to receive the qualification.

People considering enrolment in beauty courses need to be aware that skills development will require students to practise on each other and that industry dress codes will apply. This will necessarily involve touch but will always be practised and applied in accordance with industry codes of practice and ethics.

If you are under 17 and want to leave school, your options have been affected by a recent change in NSW law. From January 2010 you must complete Year 10 and then continue in either full-time education, training, paid employment or a combination of these options until you’re at least 17 years of age. What further study is available once I finish this course?

You may be eligible for advanced standing in this course, depending on your previous workplace training and assessment and units of competency completed in other small business management courses. You may gain entry into the Vocational Graduate Certificate in Intense Pulsed light and Laser Hair reduction.

This is an accredited AQF qualification offered under VET FEE Help conditions. Participants will need to wear black pants, shirts and fully enclosed leather shoes to class to meet OHS requirements of the industry.

The above list includes units being offered at this campus and that are required to complete this qualification. Other colleges may offer different elective options. For some courses the electives will not be listed however they will be discussed during your first class. What is the proposed timetable?

21 hours per week x 2 Semesters

Classes will be offered on a part time basis over 1 year (approx 21 hours per week). Timetables will be confirmed at the information session to be held on Tuesday 10th June 2014 at 10am in Building L, Rm L.1.01
